Indie-film veteran Eric Schaeffer (My Life's in Turnaround, If Lucy Fell) builds a compelling, compassionate world that focuses on the emotions and messy challenges of complex people navigating complicated relationships. The rejection letter has many typos ("accpeted" instead of "accepted" and "hat" instead of "that"), and though it is 4-5 paragraphs long, it's the same paragraph repeated multiple times.
While Michelle has a bit of a newcomer feel to her acting, it plays well into the coming of age trans female character.
Sadly, her best friend Robby (Michael Welch) was quirky but really stiff.
I was left wanting more from his character and kept hoping for a stronger dynamic between two. Somewhat predictable but still a winning formula for a romantic comedy.
